<div>Speaking of 
<a href="http://torrez.us/">Elias</a>, it would be remiss of me not
to mention he's done it again. The 
<a href="http://esw.w3.org/topic/SparqlCalendarDemo">SparqlCalendarDemo</a>
he and 
<a href="http://www.thefigtrees.net/lee/life/">Lee Feigenbaum</a>
put together was a great demonstration of Ajax+SemWeb. Now he, with

<a href="http://wingerz.com/blog/">Wing</a> and 
<a href="http://www.klinewoods.com/?p=41">Ben</a> (great
write-ups!) are covering Atom Protocol+SemWeb in 
<a href="http://torrez.us/archives/2006/07/17/471/">Queso</a> (with

<a href="http://www.snellspace.com/wp/index.php">James Snell</a>
around somewhere with 
<a href="http://incubator.apache.org/abdera/">Apache
Abdera</a>).
This is all cutting-edge Web 2.0 stuff, and the application of
SemWeb tech in the more general arena is getting noticed. It's a
good touchstone when 
<a href="http://www.intertwingly.net/blog/2006/07/18/Queso">Sam
Ruby</a> asks "
Can it do 
<a href="http://tinyurl.com/mwsb8">this</a>?" and a few hours
later in comments Elias posts a query that does it. Bonus points to

Adam Constabaris for post title

Atoms! They SPARQL!</a>
 
The outreach angle here is elegantly trojan - anyone looking for
an Atom Protocol implementation has one in Queso, plus it's got all
this extra functionality out of the box, 
"ooh, I wonder what that does, let me try this..."
[Incidentally, coming from a different direction, 
<a href="http://www.1060research.com/netkernel/">1060 NetKernel</a>
has interesting coverage of REST and RDF, 
<a href="http://www.1060research.com/netkernel/">OpenLink
Virtuoso</a> is what they call a Universal Server (check the 
<a href="http://www.openlinksw.com/virtuoso/main/featurematrix/index.htm">features</a>
- it's not such a wild claim - seriously broad coverage - SQL, XML,
LDAP, RDF etc), and their press release says: "
OpenLink Releases Technology to Accelerate Exploitation of Web
2.0 and Semantic Web". (Open source too, btw).]
Meanwhile, the W3C have 
<a href="http://www.w3.org/2001/sw/news#x20060714a">announced</a> a
new Education and Outreach WG as part of their SemWeb initiative,
but details don't appear to be available yet. I do have 
<a href="http://dannyayers.com/2006/04/10/sweo-suggestions">other
suggestions</a> on this front, but above all I'd recommend watching
what Elias & associates are showing and telling. Way cool.
